SAN ANTONIO -- Several University of the Incarnate Word baseball student-athletes are excelling in their respective summer baseball leagues in preparation for a return to Daniel Sullivan Field for the 2019 season.
 
"We are pleased to see many Cardinals having success across the country in collegiate summer leagues," said UIW head coach Patrick Hallmark. "It bodes well for the future of the program and the competitive environment we are building at Sullivan Field."
 
Ryan Flores plays for the Sedalia Bombers in the MINK League. Flores, who just completed his freshman campaign for the Cardinals, holds a .356 batting average through 15 games for SED. He has 21 hits with six doubles and a triple. The Corpus Christi, Texas, native has scored eight runs and registered 23 RBIs.
 
Flores was a first baseman in the 4th Annual MINK League All-Star Game on June 27 in Joplin, Missouri. After guiding the North Division to a 12-3 victory, Flores was named the 2018 MINK All-Star Game MVP.
 
Aaron Celestino, who plays for the Sedalia Bombers, was also selected for the 4th Annual MINK League All-Star Game as a North Division pitcher. The Houston native recently completed his freshman year with UIW.
 
During summer league action, Celestino has recorded 17 strikeouts in 15.0 innings pitched. He has seen action in four games with three starts and a win.
 
Eddy Gonzalez plays for the Green Bay Bullfrogs in the Northwoods League. The outfielder, who just completed his junior season at UIW, has 31 hits with 13 runs and 12 RBIs. Gonzalez has recorded three doubles and has six stolen bases.
 
Additionally, the Laredo, Texas, native has been named the Aurora BayCare Medical Center Player of the Night twice this season, first after a perfect 4-for-4 outing on June 1 and again after a June 21 performance that saw three hits with three RBIs and a run.
