FRISCO, Texas -- University of the Incarnate Word men's golf senior Caden Wylie was named to the 2017-18 Southland Men's Golf All-Academic second team, announced the conference Monday.
 
"Caden is a vital part of our team and an incredible example of balancing the student-athlete lifestyle," said interim head coach Remy Huston. "He is not only a guy who travels week in and week out, but he does so while maintaining an almost perfect GPA and also being a representative on SAAC."
 
To be eligible for SLC all-academic, student-athletes must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) through the semester prior to the sports' championship. They also must have completed at least one full academic year at their current institution prior to the season in which the nomination occurs, and they must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games during the most recently completed season.
 
Wylie, a senior from Boerne, Texas, accumulated above a 3.90 GPA as a business administration major. He participated in all 11 competitions for the Cardinals during the 2017-18 season, recording five top-20 finishes and a pair of top-10 finishes. Wylie shot rounds of 73, 78, 73 for a 224 (+8) at the Big Texas for a ninth-place finish.
