SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell, 8-3, to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Chapman Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After five scoreless frames, TAMUCC took the first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double to left center, but UIW responded in the top of the seventh when
Lee Thomas hit a two-RBI blast to right field to give the Cardinals a 2-1 advantage.

The Islanders then used seven hits and took advantage of a Cardinal miscue to plate six runs, taking a 7-2 lead after seven innings. TAMUCC added a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth frame.

The Cardinals started a rally in the top of the ninth when
Tyler Pettit's RBI single drove in Thomas, but the Islanders secured the 8-3 victory.

- Ryan Flores led the Cardinals with a 3-for-4 outing.
- Ryan Gonzalez chipped in two hits, while Thomas added a hit with two RBIs and two runs.
- Cody Allen (2-4) suffered the loss, facing four batters in 0.1 innings pitched.

The Cardinals host Sam Houston State on Thursday-Saturday to close out the regular season. Thursday's game is slated for 6:30 p.m. (CT), while Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday's Senior Day game is set for 1 p.m.
