SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word softball team dropped a 10-3 decision to Northwestern State on Saturday in the series finale at Cardinals Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Northwestern State took the lead in the top of the second, scoring on an RBI single up the middle.

The Cardinals responded in bottom of the frame when a
Delaney Guzman double to right center plated
Shelby Neatherlin.
Mackenzie Stark followed with a double to left field, scoring Guzman and
Breanna Hernandez to give UIW the 3-1 advantage.

The Lady Demons used a solo home run and an RBI single through the right side in the fourth inning to draw even. NSU then regained the lead in the fifth, taking advantage of a Cardinal miscue to go up 4-3.

Northwestern State added three runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh en route to a 10-3 win.

LEADERS
- Guzman led the Cardinals, going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Emily Castro was 2-for-3.
- Hernandez suffered the loss, throwing four strikeouts and allowing just one walk in 6.2 innings pitched.
