HOUSTON -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team battled for 13 innings, but ultimately the Cardinals fell, 7-6, to Houston Baptist on Saturday in the series finale at Husky Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Huskies took an early advantage, scoring four runs in the first three innings, but UIW started their comeback in the sixth frame.

Eddy Gonzalez, leaving HBU with a 4-3 advantage.

The Cardinals continued their rally in the seventh inning when
Ryan Gonzalez blasted a three-RBI double to right center, scoring Flores, Anaya and
Kyle Bergeron for the 6-4 lead.

Houston Baptist used an RBI double in the eighth inning and took advantage of a wild pitch in the ninth frame to knot the game at 6-6, forcing extra innings.

After three and a half more scoreless innings, Houston Baptist secured a 7-6 win with an RBI single in the bottom of the 13th frame.

- Four Cardinals -- Rogers (2), Bergeron (2), Flores (2), and Thomas (3) -- had multi-hit games.
- R. Gonzalez led UIW with three RBIs, while Thomas chipped in two.
- This is the second consecutive series with at least one extra inning game for the Cardinals. UIW defeated Nicholls, 7-6, in 15 innings in game one of the series on April 14.
- Reliever Jenner Jackson (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing two hits and zero walks in 0.1 innings.
