HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (16-25) | TAMCC rushed out to a 5-1 lead to start. The Cardinals fought to keep it close, but the Islanders stayed in front for the remainder of the set to establish a 1-0 match lead.
Clapp led the team with five kills. Junior middle blocker
Allison Waits delivered three kills on .750 hitting for UIW.
SET 2 (12-25) | Unfortunately for UIW, the second set didn't differ too much from the first. TAMCC took an early lead and never looked back to stake a 2-0 claim on the match.
Clapp and
Monday led the team with two kills each.
SET 3 (27-29) | The Cardinals gave it everything they had in the third set, but it wasn't meant to be. UIW saved match point twice in the set, off kills from freshman outside hitter
Chloe Patton and junior outside hitter
Cameron Taylor. But eventually, on the third match point, the Islanders put the match away to end UIW's season.
HEAR FROM COACH DABBS
"I'm extremely proud of this team. We fought until the end. We put ourselves in a great position this year and just fell short. Our future is so bright and I'm extremely proud of them.
It's never easy ending a season like this. Our team knows what we have to do and our work starts in the spring!"
