Cardinals secure road victory in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team secured a 1-0 road win at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals jumped out in the first half with forceful offense, taking six shots within the first 45 minutes. Taylor Husfeld netted a UIW goal in the 29th minute off a free kick opportunity. Andrea Reyes crossed the ball to Husfeld, whose goal gave UIW a 1-0 advantage.
 
UIW remained offensive during the second, putting up more opportunities with seven shots. Sydney Huntsinger performed in peak condition with 10 saves on the game as the Cardinals secured the 1-0 victory.

"The girls were fantastic and worked really hard to get points on the road," says Head Coach Emma Wright-Cates. The Cardinals will take this win and use it as a driving force for training as they prepare for next weekend's matchups.

UP NEXT
The Cardinals return to San Antonio for a two-game home series. UIW is set to play Lamar on Friday night at 5 p.m. (CT), and will host McNeese on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT), both at Benson Stadium.
