SAN ANTONIO, Texas –Nico Garza went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double, and a triple and
Sean Arnold had a two-run single in UIW Baseball's 9-4 non-conference loss to UTSA Wednesday evening from Sullivan Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The visiting Roadrunners wasted little time getting a lead, scoring three times in the top of the first, highlighted by a two-run blast by Trent Bowles.
UTSA added three more in the top of the third to make the score, 6-1. UIW got on the board in the bottom half of the frame as
David Anaya's RBI double brought home Arnold.
The Roadrunners used a pair of sacrifice flies to increase their run total to eight. The Cardinals continued to fight, as
Eddy Gonzalez hit an RBI single and Arnold's two-run single in the seventh made the score 8-4.
UTSA out-hit the Cardinals, 19-10, as the Roadrunners hit two homers and nearly had a third, but the wind turned Kevin Markham's at-bat into a long out in the top of the second.
LEADERS
Arnold, Garza, and Gonzalez each went 2-for-4 for UIW (19-30).
Luke Taggart started on the mound and took the loss, allowing nine hits, six runs, and one walk in 2.2 innings while striking out one.

Karan Patel came in relief and picked up the win, tossing 5.0 innings with nine hits, four runs, and three strikeouts.
