SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches against Seminole State College, 4-2, and Laredo Community College 4-2 Sunday at the Clarence Mabry Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Both matches were played very tightly, but the Cardinals (4-8) were unable to overcome losing the doubles points in both matches. In the morning match against Seminole State, Joey Vatanadilok and Francisco Bendana teamed up for the only UIW doubles win of the match. They beat the opposing duo 6-0. They then went on to win their singles' matches for the only two wins for UIW. In the #1 position for singles, Sebastian Mortier came back from losing the first set 2-6, to take the second set 6-2 in commanding

fashion, but his third set would end before it was over due to Seminole State winning the match 4-2.
In the afternoon match against Laredo, Mortier won his singles' match at #1 6-1, 6-2, and Vatanadilok defeated his opponent at #4 without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0.
 
UP NEXT

UIW will be tested this weekend as they travel to Houston to face a tough opponent in Rice on Friday at 11 a.m.

Following the match against Rice, the Cardinals will have nine off days before playing four homes matches in six days. They play Georgia Southern on Sunday at 1 p.m.,
New Orleans on Tuesday at 12 p.m., Navy on Thursday at 1 p.m., and Marquette on Friday at 1 p.m.
