SAN ANTONIO, TX – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team finished the UTSA Classic on Sunday afternoon with a 10-2 loss against the host school UTSA at Roadrunner Field.
CARDINALS UNABLE TO DEFEAT UTSA
The Cardinals were able to strike first after
Marcela Lopez singled up the middle to score
Victoria Bratcher in the top of the first inning. Kristen Hebert got the start for UIW and she was unable to record an out after giving up three earned runs in the first three batters.
Bridget Stein replaced Hebert in the pitching circle and she also struggled giving up five earned runs in 1.2 innings of work. UIW was able to pick up another run in the top of the fourth inning after
Delaney Guzman had a bunt single to the pitcher scoring
Jill Guse.
The Roadrunners would go on to win the game 10-2 in five innings. Bratcher and Lopez had two hits each to lead the offense and Lopez had the teams only RBI. Rylee Rodriguez and Randee Crawford lead the Roadrunners with three RBI each.
