PHOENIX, Ariz. – Sophomore goalkeeper 
Brendan Brown stopped a penalty kick in the second half, but The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team could not overcome a pair of first-half goals two minutes apart as the Cardinals fell, 2-0, to Grand Canyon Friday afternoon at GCU Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Grand Canyon (6-6-0, 3-1-0 WAC) scored a pair of goals two minutes apart to lead 2-0 at halftime. Charlie Keating got things going for the 'Lopes in the 14
th minute, followed by Niki Jackson in the 16
th, assisted by Keating. The Cardinals (3-8-1, 1-4-0) were outshot, 10-2, in the opening half.
In the second half, Jackson was awarded a penalty kick, but UIW's Brown made the save to keep the score 2-0. The 'Lopes outshot UIW in the second half, 6-4, for a 16-6 advantage in the match. Corner kicks were 7-3 in favor of GCU.
LEADERS
Brown stopped six shots in goal for the Cardinals, the fourth time he has made at least that many stops in a single game this season and the first time since he stopped a career-high nine at Air Force last month. Six different Cardinals had a shot attempt: 
Ronan Fournier, 
Ryan Osborne, 
Robert Pratt, 
Roberto Diaz Fernandez, 
Carlos Guerrero, and 
Vieri Joya.
Keating led all players with three points on the night. Jeremy Pollard earned the clean sheet as he did not register a save.
