Beaumont, Texas – The UIW men's basketball team looks to rebound after a disappointing loss to New Orleans when the Cardinals face Lamar Wednesday night from the Montagne Center. The game will be televised live on Spectrum Sports Texas, Channel 323. Fans outside of the Alamo City can stream the game live on ESPN3.
OPENING TIP
UIW leads the all-time series with Lamar, 4-1, which included a season sweep of LU last season. In the "Battle of the Birds," during the Southland Era, Lamar has the upper hand in the head-to-head with its fellow Cardinal counterpart, 19-11, but UIW men's basketball has the best record over Lamar, 4-1, followed closely with volleyball at 3-1. Both women's basketball (0-5) and softball (0-7) are looking for their first wins over LU.

On the season, Weisbrod leads the SLC with 9.1 rebounds per game, is T-8th with 15.6 points per game, and third with a 52.0 field-goal percentage. Joey Frenchwood is second with 4.7 assists per game, while Zjori Bosha is T-2nd with 2.2 steals per contest. As a team, the Cardinals lead the conference in scoring margin with +9.4 (79.5-70.1) and is seventh with a +1.1 rebounding margin (36.8-35.6).

Summary: UIW ran into a buzzsaw with the league's top team in New Orleans, as the Privateers turned 14 UIW turnovers into 26 points and also held a 50-28 points in the paint advantage in an 87-72 Privateer win last Saturday at the Convo Center.
Jalin Hart led the Cardinals in points for the fifth-straight game, with 19 points, while
Simi Socks and
Shawn Johnson added 18 and 14, respectively.
Tyler Singleton matched his career high of five assists.
On the season, Johnson is seventh in the Southland Conference with 16.3 points per game and fourth with 7.5 rebounds per contest. His 2.7 threes per game ranks him third in the SLC. Socks and Hart rank 11th and 12th with 14.6 and 14.5 points per game, respectively, as Hart is fourth with 4.5 assists per game and fifth with 1.8 steals per contest. Socks is third with an 83.6 free throw percentage.
Devin Wyatt is third in the SLC and 31st nationally with 2.30 blocked shots per game. As a team, the Cardinals are 10th in the SLC with a -3.5 scoring margin (77.5-81.1) and 11th in rebounding margin with -5.4 (34.5-39.9).
