DALLAS, TEXAS – After five home games last week, the University of the Incarnate Word baseball team will hit the road on Tuesday for a matchup with #28 Dallas Baptist University at Horner Ballpark.
The Cardinals (5-15) are still looking for their first win away from home this year. They enter the game 0-11 away from Sullivan Field. The team is hitting .219 on the season and average 3.5 runs per game.
Braden Martin (Andrews/Andrews HS) leads the team with a .346 batting average while
Brance Kahle (Colleyville/Grapevine Faith HS) is hitting .288 with a team best 12 runs batted in. Freshman
Jake Bedevian (Houston/Second Baptist School) will be making his fifth start of the season on the mound. He picked up his first career victory last week against Prairie View A&M when he allowed two runs in 5.2 innings of work.
The Patriots (13-6) have made the NCAA Regionals in four of the last five years winning at least 40 games in those four seasons. They are hitting .300 as a team and averaging 7.6 runs per contest. Luke Stratman is hitting .390 with three home runs and 16 runs batted in while Darick Hall has hit five homers and driven in 22. Jordan Martinson will be on the mound for DBU. He has a 3.57 earned run average and two saves in 17.2 innings of work, but has yet to factor in on a decision.
