SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team (2-2) finished with a clean record this weekend at home after a 4-3 win against St. Mary's on Saturday at Mabry Tennis Center. (

Incarnate Word started off strong with
Josip Smoljan (Citluk, Bosnia and Herzegovina/Srednja Skola) and
Francisco Bendana (College Station/New Braunfels HS) earning their first doubles win of the season, 6-3. The pair of
Sebastian Mortier (Hanau, Germany/Karl-Rehbeln-Schule) and
Joey Vatanadilok (San Antonio/Bridgeway Academy) took their second doubles win of the weekend against St. Mary's, 6-4.
Vatanadilok recorded a win at #1 singles against Adam Dockery 6-2, 6-4. At #3 singles Bendana took the point from Luke Keller 6-1, 6-1. Smoljan tried to rally at #2 singles, but could not hold off Michael Maciel, who took the point 6-7(3), 6-3, 10-8. To close the game for the Cardinals, Mortier finished with a two-set win 6-0, 6-4.
UIW will travel for the second time in 2016 to face Laredo Community College on February 12 at 1 p.m. They will continue on the road to play in Houston against Rice University on the 14
th with the matches beginning at 4 p.m.
