Memphis, Tenn. – The UIW men's basketball team ends non-conference play with a mid-week tilt at Memphis on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. from the FedEx Forum, the home of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
OPENING TIP
The Cardinals play their third-straight first-time opponent, previously playing UNLV and Loyola Marymount last week. Wednesday's game will be the fourth on ESPN3 for the Cardinals this season. They are currently 3-0 with wins over St. Edward's, Howard Payne, and Texas A&M International.

Summary: Despite a career-high 28 points from
Simi Socks, UIW was outscored, 54-14, in the paint and out-rebounded, 43-30, in a 91-90 overtime loss at Loyola Marymount Saturday evening. Socks finished his terrific day going 9-for-15 from the floor, 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, and 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. He was also tied for the team high of five rebounds. On the week, Socks averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game in two road contests. Both
Jorden Kite and
Shawn Johnson scored 17 points, a career high for the former.
On the season, Johnson is second in the Southland Conference in both points (17.5) and rebounding (8.3). He leads the conference with a 50.9 three-point field goal percentage, averaging a SLC-best 2.8 treys per game. His 33.7 minutes per game rank him second in the conference.
Jalin Hart is T-2nd in the SLC with 4.9 assists per game and 2.2 steals per contest.
