San Antonio, Texas – UIW men's basketball closes their three-game home stand with a Saturday afternoon matchup against Rice at 3 p.m. from the McDermott Convocation Center.
OPENING TIP
UIW and Rice have only met one other time, coming last season in Houston, where the Cardinals were victorious 82-76. A winning streak will end on Saturday, as UIW is on a two-game streak and the Owls have won their last three.

Summary: Rice won its third-straight game with an 80-56 win over Delaware State on Wednesday. Egor Koulechov paved the way with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
On the season, four Owls average double figures in points, led by Marcus Evans with 21.4 points per game. He has also dished out a team-best 23 assists. Koulechov is second with 16.4 points per game, followed by Marcus Jackson (14.6) and Connor Cashaw (10.0). On the glass, Koulechov leads with 7.6 boards per game. As a team, the Owls are shooting 49 percent from the floor compared to 40 percent for the opposition.

Summary: UIW won its second-straight game, 91-61, over visiting Howard Payne on Monday. The Cardinals were tough on defense, forcing 23 Yellow Jacket turnovers which resulted in 33 UIW points. HPU was held to just 34 percent shooting in the game. The Cardinals were paced offensively by
Shawn Johnson with a game-high 21 points.
Tyler Singleton dropped a career-high 19 points, while
Jalin Hart added 16.
Devin Wyatt's six blocked shots were one shy of tying the program record.
Sam Burmeister pulled down a career-tying seven rebounds.
On the season, Johnson is T-3rd in the Southland Conference with 21.3 points per game, while Hart is ninth with 17.3. Johnson's 9.0 rebounds per game place him third in the SLC.
Jorden Kite is T-1st with a perfect free throw percentage, making all eight of his attempts. Hart continues to lead the conference in assists per game, averaging 6.7 - 1.5 more than John Dewey III of Sam Houston State, who is second. Wyatt is T-1st with 3.0 blocked shots per game. As a team, the Cardinals are shooting 47 percent from the floor compared to 42 percent for the opposition.
