EDINBURG, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team visited UT-Rio Grande Valley Thursday night and dropped a Western Athletic Conference game 2-0 at UTRGV Soccer Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Vaqueros (5-8-2, 3-4-1 WAC) opened the score in the 15^th minute when Angel Lopez scored his second goal of the season. Then in the 59^th minute, a free kick from Frederik Frankman turned into a beautiful goal as he found the back of the net from over 25 yards out.
The Cardinals (4-8-3, 2-4-2 WAC) once again outshot their opponent, 11-9, but were unable to capitalize. Their two shots on goal were kept away by Vaquero goalkeeper Esa Aalto.

LEADERS

Ben Conway led UIW with four shots taken and added to his total, which ranks third in the WAC. Daniel Nevarez and Fernando Laverde took two shots apiece.
Three Vaqueros led the way with two shots each, with both Lopez and Frankman scoring their second goals of the season.

GOALKEEPER DECISION

UIW's Jorge Guzman played 70 minutes on the night and came up with four saves while allowing two goals.
UTRGV's Esa Aalto made two saves and turned in his fourth shutout of the season

The Cardinals stay on the road as they travel to Houston for a WAC matchup against HBU Sunday at 7 p.m.
