SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will travel for their last away series of the 2016 season this weekend to play Sam Houston State on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 P.M. in Huntsville and Stephen F. Austin on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1 P.M. in Nacogdoches.
 
OPENING KICK
 
The Cardinals (3-9-2, 2-5-1 SLC) lost to McNeese State 0-1 and tied with Lamar 1-1 this past weekend during their last two-game weekend at home. On paper, UIW played better than the Cowgirls, but could not pull off the win. In the Lamar game, the girls battled through two overtime periods and took 13 more shots than the Lamar Cardinals did, but were unable to break the stalemate.

Summary: The Cardinals held the lead until the 87^th minute when Lamar took and made a penalty kick to tie the game 1-1. The women played two overtime periods but ended the game in a 1-1 tie.
 
SERIES HISTORY
 
This is not the first time that the UIW Cardinals will battle for a win against these two conference teams. Last year Sam Houston State took the win against the Cardinals 3-1 and SFA did the same with a 2-1 win.
