NORMAN, OKLAHOMA – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team lost 96-63 on the road at #7 Oklahoma University on Tuesday night at the Lloyd Noble Center.

It was the second straight loss for the Cardinals (2-2) on the road against a ranked opponent.  Last week, the team lost at Purdue.  The Sooners (3-0) jumped out to a big first half lead and cruised to the victory.

Oklahoma never trailed in the game and led 54-23 at halftime.  They extended the lead to as many as 43 points in the second half before the Cardinals closed the gap by the end.

The Cardinals shot 33.8 percent from the field, made 7-of-28 from three-point range and were 10-of-11 at the foul line.  Jontrell Walker (Aurora, IL/West Aurora HS) led the team with 16 points off the bench as he knocked down four three-pointers.  Tyler Singleton (Dallas/Triple A Academy) chipped in with 11 points and three assists off the bench.  UIW committed 13 turnovers and forced the Sooners into 19, but they could not overcome a 51-23 disadvantage on the glass.

The Sooners shot 59.3 percent from the field, made 6-of-16 from three-point range and were 20-of-27 at the foul line.  Reigning Big 12 Player of the Year Buddy Hield led all players with 22 points to go with six rebounds and five assists.  Ryan Spangler posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Akolda Manyang added nine points and three blocks in 12 minutes off the bench.

The Cardinals do not return to action until December 3 when they host Dallas Christian College at 8:30 in the McDermott Center.
