Women's Soccer Takes on Bears

WACO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will attempt to pick up their first win of the season on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Baylor University.

The Cardinals (0-4) are playing their fifth consecutive game on the road to the open the 2014 season.  The offense has struggled with sophomore Alexis Santos (Mesquite/North Mesquite HS) tallying the team's lone goal this year.  On defense, Karly Brightwell (Houston/Elkins HS) and Haley Nelson (Jackson, NE/Bishop Heelan Catholic HS) have split time in goal.  Brightwell leads the team with 12 saves while Nelson has the best goals against average, 2.00.

The Bears (3-1) are fresh off a 2-1 victory at then No. 23 BYU.  Baylor is receiving votes in this week's NSCAA national poll.  They have outscored their opponents, 6-3 on the season.  Justine Hovden is the top scorer with two goals and an assist while Michelle Kloss owns a 0.83 GAA in goal.

This is the first ever meeting between the two programs.
