PRAIRIE VIEW, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team travels to Prairie View A&M University on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
The Cardinals (0-6-0) are coming off a wearisome loss to UT-Pan American this past Sunday, 2-1. UIW had complete control of the first half with ten shots but lost the momentum of the game in the last thirty seconds when a UTPA attacker scored off a header. They tied the game midway through the second half, but the Broncs responded with a second goal to win the game.
The Cardinals have been outscored 17-2 this year. Both goals have been scored by
Alexis Santos (Mesquite/North Mesquite HS) and
Sarah Johnson (Austin/Home School) has the only assist of the year. The team has rotated three goalkeepers this year with
Karly Brightwell (Houston/Elkins HS) playing the most time in goal.
The Panthers suffered a 4-0 loss to Northwestern State last Friday and are also looking for their first win of the season. Last year, the Cardinals and Panthers met for the season opener in San Antonio. UIW won, 3-1 and outshot the Panthers, 24-5.
