SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team is in action on Monday night at 6 p.m. against cross-town rival Our Lady of the Lake at the McDermott Center.
The Cardinals (3-5) are coming off a nice win over Texas Lutheran on Wednesday night and they have won their last two home games. They are only allowing 62.0 points per game on defense. On offense,
Aricka Adams (Round Rock/Round Rock HS) leads the team with 12.4 points per game and chips in 2.5 assists per game.
Jazmine Holman (Arlington/Arlington Bowie HS) is the top playmaker on the team with 3.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game while
Yvonne Maosa (Mansfield/Mansfield HS) is the team's leading rebounder with 7.9 per game.
The Saints (7-2) are riding high in the month of December. They are 4-0 during the month and have scored at least 98 points in each game. Courtney Bayliss is the leading scorer and rebounder on the team with 16.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while Sonji Green averages 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. The Saints rely upon their pressure defense that is forcing 26.8 turnovers per game.
The Cardinals and Saints have met each of the past two seasons with the teams splitting the games. OLLU won in 2012-13 while the Cardinals won last year's matchup.
