ABILENE, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team closes out their away schedule on Saturday at Southland Conference rival Abilene Christian at 2 p.m.

Saturday's match against the Wildcats is the last time the Cardinals will be on the road this season.  They will finish the season with five home matches starting Tuesday.

The Cardinals (7-17, 3-8 SLC) split their two matches last week. They lost to Southeastern Louisiana in four sets and then beat New Orleans in four sets. The Cardinals are hitting .157 for the season and are averaging 11.3 kills, 14.4 digs, and 1.5 blocks per set.  Angelique Vidaurri (San Antonio/Southwest HS) leads the Cardinals with 3.10 kills per set.  Kaitlyn Brooks (Sugar Land/Fort Bend Austin HS) leads the team in assists with 299 and 5.64 per set, while Claudia Hernandez (San Antonio/Antonian HS) leads the Cardinals' defense with 185 digs and 3.56 per set.

Abilene Christian (4-21, 2-9 SLC) sits at the bottom of the standings in the Southland Conference; they are second to last place with New Orleans behind them. The Wildcats are coming two defeats on the road; one in a non-conference match to Louisiana at Lafayette and the other against conference rival Nicholls.  Junior outside hitter Jennifer Loerch leads the Wildcats in offense with 343 total kills.  Loerch also ranks fifth in the Southland Conference with 3.73 kills per set.  Madison Hoover leads the defense with 216 digs, and her 3.86 digs per set rank ninth in the conference.  Sarah Siemens leads the team in assists, averaging 6.95 per set.  As a team, the Wildcats are hitting .146, averaging 10.9 kills, 14.2 digs and 1.9 blocks per set.
