Box Score SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – In their final non-conference game of the season, the University of the Incarnate Word picked up a 100-85 win over visiting Our Lady of the Lake University behind 31 points from sophomore guard Kyle Hittle (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) at the McDermott Center on Saturday.

Hittle entered the game shooting 54.0 percent from three-point range for the season, but it was on the inside that he scored most of his points for the Cardinals (12-1).  He was 12-of-19 from the field and went 6-for-7 at the foul line and also pulled down eight rebounds.  It was the second 30-point outburst of the season for UIW's leading scorer at 18.9 points per game.

The Cardinals led for the majority of the game, but could not shake the pesky Saints (5-6).  It was a two-point game with 5:00 minutes left in the first half before UIW put together a little run to take a 46-36 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Saints continued to stay within striking distance and were only down 64-56 with 10:44 after a free throw by Marcus Thompson.  The next five minutes would be all UIW as they extended the lead to 19 points after a three-pointer by Sam Burmeister with 5:57 remaining.  OLLU was never able to get any closer than 13 points the rest of the game.

The Cardinals dominated the inside outscoring the Saints, 54-24 on points in the paint and also had a big advantage in fast break points, 18-2.  UIW shot 56.9 percent from the field, made 4-of-15 three-point attempts and were 30-of-39 at the foul line.  In addition to Hittle, Denzel Livingston (Houston/Waltrip HS) had another solid game with 17 points, seven assists, three steals and two blocks.  Anthony Horton (League City/Clear Creek HS) finished with 14 points and seven rebounds while Ian Markolf (San Antonio/Churchill HS) led the team with 11 rebounds.

The Incarnate Word bench made an impact as well.  Mitchell Badillo (Houston/Cy Falls HS) tallied 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals.  Justin Philippe (Linden, NJ/Linden HS) added nine points and was a perfect 5-for-5 at the foul line.  The team had 22 assists and 21 turnovers and grabbed five more rebounds than the Saints.

OLLU shot 39.1 percent from the field, made 11-of-40 from three-point range and were 16-of-22 at the foul line.  Xavier Roberson led the team with 23 points, but needed 22 shots to accomplish it.  Christian Wood-Dvorak had 13 points and six rebounds while Dylan Elias and Brock Hunter each hit double figures.  Thompson added eight assists, six steals and five rebounds from the point guard spot.  They had 17 assists and 19 turnovers in the game.

The Cardinals are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Southeastern Louisiana for their first ever Southland Conference game.
