The Cardinals (22-15, 8-9) received a strong pitching performance from junior
Jesus Berduzco (Sacramento, CA/Foothill HS) who tossed a complete game 4-hitter. He got better as the game went on allowing just two hits and a walk over the final four innings. He walked three and struck out eight to improve to 4-3 on the season.
The Cardinals scored all their runs in the first four innings, including a 7-run outburst in the third inning.
Derrick Walls (San Antonio/Reagan HS) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and his 31st stolen base of the year.
Thomas Rinn (Cameron/Yoe HS) went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI's and a triple.
Jordan Littlefield (Marion/Marion HS) drove in three runs while
Jonathan Armijo (San Antonio/Highlands HS) had two hits and drove in two runs.
The Greyhounds (19-17, 6-11) entered the contest as the top hitting team in the conference, but did not show it against the Cardinals. Andres Enriquez had three of the team's four hits and the only run they scored came on a wild pitch.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Sullivan Field.
