AUSTIN, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team will travel to Austin for a single game against non-conference neighbor St. Edward's University on Tuesday at 2 p.m at Lucian Hamilton Field.
The Cardinals (15-7) are coming off a 1-3 weekend against conference rival Abilene Christian and are looking for a win. The Cardinals are batting .323 as a team and four Cardinals are batting .400 or better. Senior Jordan Littleton (Marion/Marion HS) leads the team with a .424 batting average coupled with 12 RBI's. Derrick Walls (San Antonio/Reagan HS) is the Cardinals spark plug with 31 runs and 19 stolen bases on the season.
The Hilltoppers (17-7) are looking to extend their seven-game winning streak with a win over the Cardinals. As a team, St. Edward's is batting .293 and they have picked up five homeruns on the season. Taylor Johnson leads the Hilltopper offense with a .391 batting average and 20 runs. CJ Manning is right behind him, batting .388 and leads the team in RBI's with 20.
The Cardinals met up with the Hilltoppers earlier this season and beat them 10-9 at home. The Cardinals are 68-47 all-time against St. Edwards.
