Box Score SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team closed out their home schedule with a straight sets victory over Southland Conference rival Abilene Christian on Friday night at the McDermott Center.

The Cardinals (12-11, 7-7) made it a perfect 2-0 on the season against the Wildcats (6-16, 2-12) with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-14 on Senior Night.  The team's three seniors; Sarah Cardenas (San Antonio/O'Connor HS), Beth Soukup (Helotes/O'Connor HS) and Danielle Suarez (San Antonio/Antonian HS) went out in style with an impressive victory.

The Cardinals got progressively better as the match went along.  They had a .108 attack percentage in the first set, a .219 attack in the second and a .591 attack in the third when they had 13 kills in 22 attacks without an error.  Overall, UIW finished the match with 37 kills, 43 digs, nine aces and a .264 attack percentage.

Angelique Vidaurri (San Antonio/Southwest HS) was the top attacking threat for UIW with 12 kills and a .348 attack.  Freshman Brittani Dear (La Vernia/La Vernia HS) added eight kills, a .500 attack and a team high 12 digs.  Suarez had 16 assists, Cardenas added 11 digs and Soukup finished with six kills and a .235 attack.  Taylor McClelland (Cypress/Cypress Ranch HS) had 14 assists and a team high three aces.

The Wildcats had 32 kills, 35 digs and a .095 attack.  Jennifer Loerch led the way with 11 kills and a 11 digs to go with a .250 attack.  Neely Borger had six kills and a .500 attack while Sarah Siemens led all players with 26 assists.

The Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Angelo State University.
