Box Score SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team traveled to former Lone Star Conference rival Angelo State on Wednesday night and lost in three sets 25-23, 25-11, 25-15.
After a tightly first set, the Belles (21-7) pulled away from the Cardinals (12-12) in the second and third sets. Angelo State used a 14-1 run in the second set and a 10-2 run in the third set to take away any come back chances for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals posted their lowest attack percentage of the season with 27 kills and 26 attack errors.
Angelique Vidaurri (San Antonio/Southwest HS) led the team with eight kills and a .261 attack percentage while
Shaina Garza (San Antonio/Warren HS) added eight kills and 12 digs.
Sarah Cardenas (San Antonio/O'Connor HS) led the team with 14 digs and
Danielle Suarez (San Antonio/Antonian HS) added 13 assists.
Jaina Jackson (Huntley, IL/Huntley HS) led the team with six blocks.
The Belles finished the match with 42 kills and a .223 attack percentage. They had three players with 10 kills apiece including Maddie Huth who also had eight blocks. Maggi Jo Keffury directed the attack with 40 assists and Kaelen Valdez led the team with 14 digs.
The Cardinals do not play again until November 23 when they play a doubleheader against Abilene Christian and Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
