Cardinals to play Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team heads to Angelo State University on Wednesday after wrapping up their first Southland Conference season.

After a confident 3-0 win against the Abilene Christian Wildcats last Friday, the Cardinals (12-11) are on the road this week at Angelo State for some post-conference action.  The match begins at 7 p.m.

The ASU Belles (20-7) currently hold an attacking percentage that matches the Cardinals at .189, but are averaging 13.8 kills per set to the Cardinals 12.5. With six players recording over 100 kills this year, the game is set to be a tough fixture for the Cardinals.
Middle blocker, Maddie Huth leads the Belles with a total of 313 kills, an attacking percentage of .260 and 91 blocks, while Maggi Jo Keffury directs the offense with 11.17 assists per set.

For the Cardinals Angelique Vidaurri (San Antonio/Southwest HS), Shaina Garza (San Antonio/Warren HS) and Brittani Dear (La Vernia/La Vernia HS) have each fired over 200 kills this season.  Vidaurri leads with an attacking percentage of .222 and has a total of 63 blocks, while Danielle Suarez (San Antonio/Antonian HS) averages 5.72 assists per set.

The Belles won the first matchup this season between the two teams 25-17, 14-25, 25-21, 25-23 at the McDermott Center on September 27.
