COMMERCE, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team got a pair of second half goals by
Sarah Parker (San Antonio/Marshall HS) to propel them to a 4-1 victory at Lone Star Conference rival Texas A&M-Commerce on Sunday. (

The Cardinals (2-4, 2-2) scored early in the first half when
Jordyn Garcia (Cedar Park/Leander HS) received a pass from
Amber Guenther (San Antonio/Johnson HS) and made a nice spin move around the defense. The goal came at 5:26 and was her second in the last two games.
The Lions (2-5, 1-3) tied the game in the 30
th minute when Anitra Wright scored on a shot from inside the box. Eva Brutto was credited with the assist.
Each team had chances to score before the end of the half, but it went to halftime tied 1-1. In the second half, the Cardinals took over the game. They peppered the Commerce goal with three shots in the first 2:30 minutes and then took the lead for good when Parker headed in a goal off a corner kick by
Katie Miller (Tyler/Home School) at 55:34.
Parker scored again in the 74
th minute when she knocked in a goal off a loose ball in the box. The goal was set up by a corner kick and put the game away.
The Cardinals added an insurance goal in the 82
nd minute when Miller added a goal to her assist. Miller scored on a shot from 25 yards away while
Amanda Watkins (San Antonio/Brandeis HS) picked up the assist.
The Cardinals took six more shots than the Lions. The 16 shots were spread around nine players.
Heather Kowalik (Boerne/Champion HS) was credited with the win after allowing one goal and making three saves in 64:12.
The Lions earned seven corner kicks in the match, but were unable to convert them.
The Cardinals are back in action on Friday at Eastern New Mexico at 3 p.m.
