LSC NAMES BOSS PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Incarnate Word freshman pitcher Dylan Boss earned a Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week award for his performance out on the mound for UIW this past weekend.

Boss, from Boerne, came into the fourth inning of the first game of the four-game series on the road against Cameron University and pitched six scoreless innings, allowing the Cardinals to rally from a 2-0 deficit and get the 5-2 on Friday.

Against the Aggies, Boss faced 20 batters, walking just two and striking out an impressive 10 while giving up just one hit and no runs.

Boss shared the weekly award with Jake Feckley of Angelo State.

The game gave Boss his first win as a starter in his career and improves his record this season to 1-2 (he had two saves early in the season until making the switch from closer to starter). His ERA is a team-best 2.17, which is fifth-best in the Lone Star Conference.

By helping his team get the win, UIW was able to take 3-of-4 games on the road from Cameron and improve their record to 6-6 in the LSC (11-12 overall) which has the Cardinals tied for 4th place in the conference going into this weekend's home series against Tarleton State University (12-14, 5-7).

This weekend's games at Sullivan Field will be feature doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday with a 9-inning first game and a 7-inning second game on both days. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. both days.
