CARDINALS FALL, 12-4, VS THE RAMS

Greg Barbaro was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs in Sundays game against Angelo State.

Needing a win to stay at .500 in Lone Star Conference play, the Incarnate Word baseball team struggled offensively on the road against Angelo State University and lost, 12-4, on Sunday.

UIW (8-11 overall and 3-5 in the LSC) managed eight hits, total, against the Rams, with Jordan Littlefield, Lucas Miller and Greg Barbaro all getting two hits in the matchup – including a solo home run in the top of the 9th by Miller.

After the Cardinals took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth, ASU answered with a 3-run bottom half of the same inning. They then added four more runs in the bottom of the 5th and, after Incarnate Word scored in the top of the sixth to make it 8-3, scored four more runs before UIW could manage another runner home (Miller's homer).

Incarnate Word will be on the road again, this upcoming weekend against Cameron University before returning home next Friday and Saturday for two doubleheaders vs. Tarleton State (as opposed to the new, 1-2-1 format that the LSC adopted this season) at Sullivan Field.
