VIDAURRI NAMED LSC HITTER OF THE WEEK

Steven Vidaurri's 7-of-18 performance to open up the 2011 season earned him a Co-Hitter of the Week award by the Lone Star Conference.

University of the Incarnate Word left fielder Steven Vidaurri was named Co-Hitter of the Week by the Lone Star Conference for his performance over the first five games of the Cardinals' season.

Vidaurri, a senior from Corpus Christi, was 7-of-18 up against Angelo State University (four games) and St. Mary's University, including the team's first home run of the season.

In addition to his bases-clearing bomb, Vidaurri hit two triples (tied for first in the LSC), scored 8 runs (tied for second in the LSC), hit a sac-fly and batted-in five teammates. His slugging percentage is .778 and his on-base percentage is .429 with a batting average of .389.

The Cardinals went 3-2 in that five-game stretch, but were 3-0 in Lone Star Conference play, which has them tied for first place going into this weekend's action around the conference.

UIW is on the road in Stephenville to take on Tarleton State today and Saturday in three LSC contests.
