The Incarnate Word baseball team headed to San Angelo on Tuesday afternoon for a baseball game and came back with a victory that more-closely resembled a football game, 27-18.
The Cardinals recorded 25 hits in 57 at-bats and scored 12 runs in the third inning. Tyler Hicks was 5-for-7 while Ryan Flowers, Matt Roohan, Jackson Woodruff and Hector Flores were all 3-for-6 on the night. Reno Malay was a perfect 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs while Woodruff bought home five teammates.
Incarnate Word – ranked No. 21 in NCAA Division II with an overall record of 27-9 – will be on the road against Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Friday and Saturday for Heartland Conference play.
UIW is in first place in the Heartland Conference and will be playing in Goodwell, OK this weekend because the two teams were supposed to play at the Aggies' ballpark early in the season, but poor weather in Oklahoma forced the two teams to switch when the teams played in San Antonio.
