BASEBALL CAN'T MANAGE COMEBACK

Reno Malay went 4-for-4 in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Angelo State. The Cardinals left 9 batters stranded.

In a non-conference game against Angelo State University, the No. 13-ranked Incarnate Word baseball team was unable to come back from a 3-1 deficit and lost, 3-2, at Sullivan Field on Tuesday.

Reno Malay went 4-for-4 with a double and Tyler Hicks hit 2-for-5 with an RBI a loss that saw the Cardinals (10-2 overall, 10-0 in the Heartland Conference) out-hit the Rams 12 to 7, but also leave nine base runners stranded.

Ethan Lutz took his first loss of the year.

The Cardinals now must regroup before Friday, as a schedule change has Oklahoma Panhandle State coming to San Antonio this Friday and Saturday for Heartland Conference games. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday (a seven-inning game and a nine-inning game) and then have a single game (nine innings) on Saturday. Friday's action starts at 1 p.m. and Saturday is scheduled to start at noon.
