University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Previous:  Ruiz played one year at Rockhurst University.  She had 97 kills and posted a .128 attack in 73 sets.  She also had 53 blocks and 52 digs on the season.  She was named to the Dean's List.

High School:  Ruiz was on the volleyball and basketball team at Antonian High School.  She earned second team all-district honors as a freshman and sophomore and first team honors as a junior and senior.  She made the All State Tournament Team all four years while leading the team to two State championships and two other Final Four appearances.  She earned First Team All-State and Academic All-State honors as a senior and was the District Offensive Player of the Year.  She was named to a number of all-tournament teams during her career and was the MVP of the Northside Tournament as a senior.  She earned second place in the Latin at a State competition.

Personal:  Ruiz is the duaghter of Lupe Ruiz and Penny Smart and is studying business with a minor in law.  She has three siblings; Cheyenne, Rhyann and John.  She was born on December 18, 1993.
