2014 (Junior):  Camerena's role for the Cardinals in 2014 was channelled more towards his defensive prowess, allowing him to play in all 19 games on the back line. As member of a defensive quartet that posted four shut outs, he was essential in both being solid against his opponents and moving the ball on to start the Cardinals offensive drives.  He played every minute of the final 12 matches of the season and only received a sub in four total matches.  He assisted on the team's lone goal at High Point.  He was named onto the All-WAC second team.

2013 (Sophomore): Camarena played in 13 games for the Cardinals in both midfield and defensive positions. He provided a spark in the midfield that changed the momentum for that Cardinals on many occasions and was one of the most improved players on team.  He picked up an assist in a 3-1 win at UM-Kansas City.  He attempted at least two shots in four different games. 

2012 (Freshman): Camarena played in six games in the midfield. He got his most action on the pitch in the regular season finale when he played 44 minutes and scored a goal in a 4-0 win over St. Mary's. He also took three corner kicks in the game. He was a member of the UIW Dean's List in the Fall of 2012.

High School:  Camarena starred at Del Valle High School in El Paso.  As a sophomore he was named the District 3-4A MVP and First Team All-El Paso honors while leading Del Valle to a district title. He scored 23 goals and dished out 14 assists on the season. As a senior, he earned Second Team All-District 3-4A honors. He helped lead the team to a State championship in 2008 and a district title in 2009.

Personal:  Camarena is the son of Refugio and Maria Camarena and is studying Spanish with a minor in kinesiology. He has a twin sister, Berenice who plays soccer at St. Mary's. He has a brother, David. He was born on April 8, 1993 and is originally from Juarez, Mexico.
