Biography

2014 (Sophomore): Dear started in 32 games this season. She lead the team with 313 digs for an average 2.68 per set. She also finished with 2.13 kills per set, 249 total kills, and 2.35 points per set.  She had a 19 kills against Texas State and 18 against UT- Pan American. She finished with six double-doubles.  In the match against Texas State, she did not commit a single attack error in 30 attempts.  She posted double figure kill totals in three straight matches to start November.  She had 16 double digit dig matches, all in the final 22 matches of the year.  Dear was named to the Texas Tech Invitational All-Tournament Team because of her .188 attack percentage, 30 kills, and 25 digs in three matches.  She was also named to the Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2013 (Freshman): Dear started and played in all but one game for the Cardinals as a true freshman and averaged 2.43 kills per set with a total of 228 kills on the year. She had a season high of 16 kills in a win against Nicholls and also led the team in a three set victory against Abilene Christian.  She tallied 15 kills, 20 digs and posted a .250 attacking percentage in the match.  She had a season high 25 digs and recorded four blocks in a five-set loss at UT-Pan American.  She led the team with 12 double-doubles on the season going over 20 digs in four of the matches.  She had a streak late in the season of five consecutive double-doubles and in seven of eight matches.  She was named to the Southland Conference Commissoner's Honor Roll.

High School:  Dear was on the volleyball and track teams at La Vernia High School.  She was the District Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore and took home first team all-district honors as a junior and senior.  She was a three-time Academic All-District selection.  She earned San Antonio Express-News All-Area honors as a junior and senior.  During her senior year she nabbed TGCA Academic All-State and TXSWA Honorable Mention All-State honors while adding a TGCA All-Star team selection.  She was the MVP at both the Wimberley and Floresville tournaments.  She set the school record in the 100 meters in track and advanced to the State meet in the 4x100 and 4x400 two times.  She was a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Personal:  Dear is the daughter of Michael and Vicki Dear and is studying chemistry.  She has two sisters, Samantha Beltran and Brianna Dear.  She was born on December 29, 1994.  Her father played baseball at UT-Pan American.
