Biography

2013 (Junior): In the Cardinals debut season as a Division I side, De La Garza finished tied for first on the team with five goals and added two assists. He was a crucial part of the Cardinals offense providing strong runs down the sideline.  He had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win at Central Arkansas.  He tallied the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win at UC Riverside.  He scored in back-to-back wins at Belmont and Georgia State where he also had an assist.  He was a top option on corner kicks taking 25 during the season.  He ended his season with College Sports Madness honors as he was named on to the Independent All-Conference Second Team.

2012 (Sophomore): De la Garza finished as the team's second leading scorer with eight goals and three assists. He earned Lone Star Conference Second Team honors in the midfield. He scored some of the most important goals of the year, including the game winner against #3 Regis in the 78th minute to give the team a South Central Region title. Earlier in the season he scored the game tying goal in the 89th minute at home in a 1-1 tie with arch-rival Midwestern State. He started the season as a sub off the bench, but closed it by starting nine of the final 10 games. He scored twice in a 4-0 win over #13 West Texas A&M early in the season. His first game-winning goal of the year came in a 2-0 win at Wayland Baptist. He scored the first and last goals in a 4-2 win at #19 Colorado Mines in the first round of the NCAA DII Playoffs.

2011 (Freshman): De la Garza appeared in five games as a true freshman. He attempted three shots.

High School: De la Garza played soccer at Sharyland High School. He earned All-Rio Grande Valley honors for four straight years. He was the RGV Most Valuable Player as a senior. He was a four-time all-district selection and played for the USSDA San Antonio Classics Elite club team.

Personal: De la Garza is the son of Medardo and Sandra de la Garza and is studying criminal justice with a minor in sociolgoy. He has a sister, Kassandra. He was born on December 3, 1992.
