Johnson joined the UIW women's soccer coaching staff in July of 2014.  The former All-American still holds the UIW record for most career goals and most goals in a season.

Johnson was part of a first-year staff at UIW in 2014 that went through some growing pains, but came through it looking like a future contender in the Southland Conference.  The team lost their first 10 games of the season, but developed into a strong defensive team by the end of the year. 

He has been very valuable in the recruiting process for the Cardinals with his local club ties.  Six of the freshmen in the 2015 signing class had direct ties to local San Antonio club teams

Following graduation in 1997, Johnson played professional soccer in the MLS for the Tampa Bay Mutiny, the Dallas Burn, and Eintracht Braunschweig in Germany. 

Johnson holds the USSF National "C" Coaching license and the U16/U18 Regional License. Currently he is pursuing the USSF National "B" coaching license. He was an assistant coach for the UIW Men's Soccer team in 1997 and was the Assistant Coach for the U-23 Men's State Select Team from 2002-06. Prior to joining Lonestar SC, Johnson coached for the Hammer's soccer club from 2000-04, the Austin United Capitals SC from 2004-08, and has been on the Olympic Development Program Staff since 2006.

Johnson received a Bachelor's Degree in business administration from UIW. He is recognized as UIW's all-time leading goal scorer, a two-time All-American, a two-time Heart of Texas Conference MVP, and a three-time all-conference selection. He also participated in the Umbro All-Star College Game and was inducted into the UIW Hall of Fame.  He scored at least 16 goals in each of his four seasons at UIW and he had the two most prolific scoring seasons in school history when he had 33 goals and 19 assists in 1995 and 33 goals and 10 assists in 1996.

Johnson and his wife, Christine, reside in San Antonio with their two children, Jonah and Londyn.
