Biography

2024: In his second season Calzada did it all on offense throwing for the fifth most yards in the NCAA with 3791 averaging 270.79 a game. With the best receiving combo in the country Calzada had plenty of options and was able to rack up the third most completions (347) and the second most passing touchdowns (35). He was responsible for 242 points on the year which is the third most scored in the FCS. Earned several postseason awards including Dave Cambell All-Texas Non-FBS Team (Offensive Player of the Year), Stats Perform & AP All-American, Walter Payton Award Finalist and was the SLC Player of the Year.

2023: Calzada led the Cardinals with 19 passing touchdowns on the season for 2,598 yards and a 159.34 passing efficiency, the ninth best in the nation. He averaged 288.67 yards in the air per game (No. 3 in the nation), while running for 57 yards and five touchdowns. Calzada is first in the Southland Conference for total offense, passing average per game, passing efficiency, passing completions, passing yards per attempt and passing yards. He was named to the Walter Payton Award Preseason Watchlist, the Phil Steele Preseason All-Southland Team, and was named the Southland Conference Player of the Week & FCS Player of the Week Honorable Mention. He was also named Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year and earned a spot on the SLC First Team All-Conference Team. Dave Campbell named him to the 2023 All-Texas Non-FBS Offense Team. Phil Steele named Calzada to the Southland 2023 All-Conference First Team. 

2022 (Auburn): Transfer quarterback from Texas A&M. Did not see game action before shoulder surgery 

2021 (Texas A&M) (SOPHOMORE): Played in 12 games, making 10 starts. Saw action in the season-opening win over Kent State. Threw for 183 yards on 18-of-38 passing and a score at Colorado. Connected with Isaiah Spiller from 18-yards out for the game-winning TD against the Buffaloes. Made his first career start and completed 19-of-33 passing for 275 yards and three touchdowns against New Mexico. Finished 20-of-36 for 151 yards against Arkansas. Threw for a touchdown and rushed from 25-yards out for a score against Mississippi State. Had a career day in the win over No. 1 Alabama, completing 21-of-31 passing for 285 yards and three touchdowns. Named SEC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Tide. Completed 13-of-25 passing and two touchdowns at Missouri. Connected with Jalen Wydermyer for two scores and finished 12-of-24 passing for 187 yards against South Carolina. Finished 15-of-29 passing for 192 yards in the win over No. 12 Auburn. Tossed two touchdowns against Prairie View. Completed 20-of-35 passing for 242 yards and three touchdowns at LSU. Earned the Offensive Unselfish Leadership Award and the Toughness Award at the annual team banquet. 

2020 (FRESHMAN): Did not see the field. 
 

2019 (REDSHIRT): Played in three games. Went 4-for-9 with 38 passing yards in his collegiate debut against Texas State. Was 4-for-8 with two touchdown passes, including a 25-yard toss to the end zone against Lamar. Went 4-for-7, throwing for 27 yards against UTSA. Earned the Freshman Academic Excellence Award at the annual team banquet.
