Billy Blackmon III joined Coach Smith’s staff as the Director of Basketball Operations in September 2018.
He comes to UIW after spending the last six years as the head basketball coach at PK Yonge Developmental Research School in Gainesville, Fla. He owned a 116-58 career record as the Blue Wave head man, including five district championships and a final four appearance. He also served as a Behavior Support Specialist at PKY.
Prior to his days in coaching, Blackmon played two seasons for the Horsholm 79ers in the Basketligaen, Denmark’s professional basketball league. He played collegiately for three seasons at Charleston Southern after starting his career at Indian River State College.
Blackmon earned his degree in Social Science from Charleston Southern in 2012. He earned his master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2018.
