Alexis Green joined the UIW staff in August 2014 assistant coach after serving as an assistant coach at Blinn College for the previous four seasons. She was part of a program at Blinn that posted three straight 20-win seasons, including a 32-win season in 2012-13. In her time there the team was 100-34 overall with a pair of NJCAA Elite 8 appearances. She worked with a total of 15 all-conference, four all-region and two All-American players.
At Blinn, Green was also an instructor for fitness & conditioning, billiards, volleyball, basketball and drug use and abuse courses. Some of her other responsibilities included academic monitoring, community service project management and housing director.
Prior to beginning a coaching career, Green had a successful collegiate basketball career. She began as a freshman at Sam Houston State where she averaged eight points and four rebounds before transferring to Blinn for her sophomore season. She averaged 14 points and six rebounds while earning NJCAA All-Region XIV honors at Blinn. She spent her final two seasons at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She averaged over 14 points per game in each season while leading her team in scoring, rebounding and three-pointers made. She was the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association Newcomer of the Year in 2009. She was named to the LSWA All-Louisiana Team and was a third team All-Sunbelt Conference selection.
Green holds a B.A. in general studies with a concentration in behavioral sciences from Louisiana-Lafayette and an M.Ed. in health and human performance from Prairie View A&M.
