2017-2018 (Sophomore): She appeared in 12 games. She averaged 12.1 minutes a game. She played 30 minutes against South Dakota, which was a season high.Â
2016-17 (Freshman): Busby-Leija appeared in 28 games as a freshman and made 2 starts for the Cardinals. She went perfect from the three-point line in 4 games. Busby-Leija poured in a career-high 13 points in 3 of the final 6 games. She registered 5 rebounds and 2 steals against Wichita State.
Prior to UIW
High School: Busby-Leija played at Southwest High School for William Avey. She was named First Team All-District all four years of high school. Busby-Leija was a member of the Bi-District Championship team in 2013-14 and 2014-15. She led the Pioneers to a District Championship in 2015-16 and was an Area Qualifier for track in 2013-14. Busby-Leija graduated in the top-25 percent of her class and was a member of student council.
Personal: Alexandra Busby-Leija is the daughter of Miguel and Calandra Tapia, and Gerardo Leija, and is studying Sports Management. She has a four siblings, Ashlyh, Alexander, Uriah, and Isiah. She was born December 27, 1997 and is a volunteer at Boysville, Meet the Mission and the Ronald McDonald House.
