Biography

High School:  Mata was a four-time all-district midfielder at Sharyland High School.  He earned Honorable Mention All-District 30-5A honors as a freshman and followed that with second team honors as a sophomore and first team honors his final two years.  As a sophomore, he led his team to district, bi-district and area championships.  As a junior, he helped take Sharyland to the Regional Semi-Finals and earned Second Team All-Rio Grande Valley honors.  Heading into his senior year he was named a Top Player by the Rio Grande Valley Sports Magazine.  He was a Rotary Student-Athlete of the Month during his senior year.

Personal:  Mata is studying nuclear science and was born on November 11, 1992.
