2017-2018: He appeared in 13 games. 

2016-17: Thornton appeared in 20 games for the Cardinals. He registered eight rebounds and two steals. He was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

High School: Thornton was a three-year letterwinner in basketball at Sam Houston High School, while he spent his senior year and graduated at Smithson Valley High School. In 2015, he was named Second Team All-District 25-6A, as he averaged 6.9 points per game while shooting greater than 40 percent from the floor and beyond the arc. He graduated in the Top 5% in his class.

Personal: Thornton is the son of Ike and Kim and is majoring in athletic training. His father played basketball at UTSA. He has two brothers, Isaac and Isaiah, and one sister, Victoria. Isaac currently plays basketball at San Jose State University. Thornton was born on October 17, 1996.
