Jaren Jackson Sr. enters his first season as Associate Head Coach with the UIW men’s basketball program in 2023-24.
 
Jackson comes to San Antonio after working for three seasons with the Westchester Knicks of the NBA G-League. As an assistant coach, Jackson was primarily responsible for player development and opponent scouting. He also assisted with New York Knicks Summer League team. 
 
Jackson arrived in Westchester after four seasons as an assistant at prep powerhouse La Lumiere, where he worked under Coach Heirman. During Jackson’s four years on staff, the Lakers compiled a 105-11 record, including winning the 2019 GEICO National Championship. Jackson helped develop four NBA first-round draft picks while at La Lumiere, including his son, Jaren Jr., and Spurs star Jeremy Sochan.
 
Prior to joining Coach Heirman at La Lu, Jackson spent four years as a color analyst for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, where he had previously served as head coach. In 2014, Jackson worked as a coach for the annual NBA Players Association Top 100 camp, which brings together the best 100 high school players in the country.
 
Jackson played collegiately under Hall of Fame coach John Thompson at Georgetown University, averaging 13 points per game as a senior. He played in four NCAA Tournaments, twice reaching the Elite 8.
 
Jackson enjoyed a 13-year professional playing career, winning an NBA championship in 1999 with the San Antonio Spurs. He played for several legendary coaches, including Gregg Popovich, Doc Rivers, and Rudy Tomjanovich. He averaged a career-best 8.8 points per game with the Spurs in 1998.
 
A native of New Orleans, LA, Jackson and his wife, Terri, have one son, Jaren Jr.
