Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week (Sep. 21)

2014 (Freshman):  Coto had an outstanding season and set a number of school records.  He began his career by drilling a pair of field goals 47 and 49 yards long against Sacramento State.  He also had a pair of kickoff touchbacks and was named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Place Kicker of the Week and the Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.  He averaged 48.1 yards per punt on eight attempts against Southeastern Louisiana including a 67 and 73-yarder that each broke the previous school record.  He was named a CFPA Honorable Mention Punter of the Week.  He nabbed another CFPA Honorable Mention award when he averaged a school record 49.0 yards per punt at Northwestern State.  He averaged 42.3 yards per punt for the season and had 13 boots of at least 50 yards and four of at least 60 yards.  As a place kicker, he booted two field goals in three different games and had five field goals of at least 40 yards.  He was excellent on kickoffs averaging 62.3 yards per kick and had 10 touchbacks.  Both marks set new school records.  He rushed for a first down on a fake punt against McNeese State gaining 16 yards on the play.

High School:  Coto was a first team all-district kicker and punter at Westfield High School.  He helped lead the team to a 13-1 record and the Texas 5A quarterfinals.  He averaged 41.8 yards per punt and scored 85 points as a senior.  He was 61-of-64 on extra-point attempts and made all eight of his field goal tries. 

Personal:  Coto is the son of Ramon Coto and is studying business administration.  He has four sisters.  He was born on November 12, 1995.
