Biography

Avery enters his senior season third on the school’s all-time charts with 138 career tackles and first with 18 pass breakups.
 
2011 (Junior):  Avery had at least one tackle in every game.  He broke up two passes in four different games to finish with eight pass breakups on the season.  He had six tackles, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass against Angelo State.  He also picked off a pass at Texas A&M-Commerce.
 
2010 (Sophomore):  Avery was one of the team’s top tacklers with 63 total tackles, including 49 unassisted stops.  He had at least seven tackles in seven different games.  He had eight tackles in the season opener against Langston.  He had seven tackles and broke up three passes against #3 Abilene Christian.  He had seven tackles and forced a fumble against #11 West Texas A&M.
 
2009 (Freshman):  Avery appeared in every game as a freshman and contributed 49 tackles.  He had seven tackles in the opening win over Monterrey Tech.  He picked off his first career pass in a win at Southwest Assemblies of God.  He had at least five tackles in seven games.
 
High School:  Avery played football and track at Wagner High School.
 
Personal:  Avery is the son of Chuck and Felicia Avery and is studying sports management.  He has three sisters; Brelynn, Symone and Koren and was born on January 20, 1990.
