Sean Davis joined the Incarnate Word football staff in the summer of 2013 as the quarterbacks coach and he added the title of recruiting coordinator in 2016.
In 2015, Trent Brittain put his name all over the UIW record book for both single season and career marks. It showed that Davis and Brittain were working together for a third straight season as the team set a record for most passing yards in a season.
Davis earned his money in 2014 when the team cycled through four different starting quarterbacks. Brittain went down with a season-ending injury 11 minutes into the season forcing the Cardinals to shuffle the lineup. It took awhile, but fourth-stringer Jordan Scelfo stepped up and provided a spark to the team. In his four starts he had a pair of 250-yard plus performances and dramatically improved the team's offense.
In his first year with the program, Davis tutored a red-shirt freshman, Brittain, who set school records for completions, attempts and passing yards in a season. Brittain was named to a pair of national freshman of the year watch lists.
Davis began his collegiate coaching career at Pasadena City College in 2010. He began as the wide receivers coach in 2010 and continued to gain more and more responsibilities in each season. In 2012, he coached quarterbacks and wide receivers and was the passing game coordinator. He was officially named the co-offensive coordinator in November of 2012. His star pupil was Kemonte Bateman who was signed by the Denver Broncos in 2013.
Prior to joining the staff at Pasadena City College, Davis was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Crescenta Valley High School (La Crescenta, CA) from 2006-09.
Davis was a star quarterback at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, NM before matriculating to Azusa Pacific. He was a three-year starter at APU finishing with 3,812 passing yards and 22 touchdowns in his career. He led the team to an 11-win season in 2004 and the NAIA National Semifinals. He was a pre-season All-American in 2005.
Davis and his wife, Stephanie, reside in San Antonio.
